INTERNATIONAL YOGA
DAY
Yog is the inhibition of the
modifications of mind. The state of unification of the two(human soul &
divine soul) in consciousness as well as the mental process and discipline
through which this union is attained are both called Yog.
Yog as philosophy composed in Yog
Sutras form by the great sage Patanjali long before.
Patanjali's Yog Sutras is considered
to be the most authoritative treatise on Yoga. The main purpose of Yoga is to
bring higher enlightenment to all mankind. In other words the means and aim of
Yoga is to feel and live in the timeless state of equanimity, purity and
divinity. Practice of Yoga kindles the wisdom of intelligence through right
action to live in peace, tranquility and serenity.
1.Self-restraints, 2.fixed
observances, 3.posture, 4.regulation of breath, 5.abstraction, 6.concentration,
7.mediation, 8.trance are the eight of the self-discipline of yog.
Self-restraints are 1.non-violence,
2.truthfullness, 3. non-misappropriativeness 4.sexual continence, 5.non-possessiveness.
Fixed observances are 1.purity,
2.contentment, 3.austerity, 4.self-study, 5.resignation to the God.
Posture is the sitting stage of the
body steady and comfortable for numbers of hours.
Regulation of breath means control on
in-breathing & out-breathing.
Abstraction is withdrawing sensations
from sense-organs.
Concentration is confining the mind
on single object.
Mediation is the mind fixed on single
object.
Trance is state of unification of
human soul with divine soul.
Practice of this type of Yoga is very
important for the mankind. But unfortunately nowadays the miss-concept i.e. yoga means
posture (yogasan) is attracting the people, which is totally wrong.
On the international day we must
understand the true meaning of the yog.
