Maintenance of a healthy life by one's own right action is called Swasthya which literally means the regime of abiding one's own nature. Health is the dynamic integration between our environment, body, mind and spirit. Ayurveda, the science of life great emphasis on preservation and promotion of health thereby preventing the diseases. Elaborate description is available on personal hygiene which includes diet and regimen during daily routine, seasonal routine, and behavioural and ethical principles. Observance of certain rules regarding suppressible and non-suppressible urges also paves way towards positive health.

The Ayurvedic regimen of right living is designed for maintenance of health achievement of a long, healthy, active life, providing relief from pain and disease allowing satisfactory enjoyment of life and attainment of self-realization. It is advisable to wake up during Brahma Muhurta (between 3 a.m. to 6 a. m.) This the best time for study and to gain knowledge. Drinking water early in the morning according to one's capacity cleanness the body by enhancing the elimination of toxic wasters. Tongue and mouth should be cleaned by a long flexible strip of plant, Karanja Aparmargo, Khadira etc. It not only cleanses the Tongue but also stimulates digestion. Eyes should be washed with Triphala water every day. Chewing of betel leaves with small piece of Arecanut and fragrant substance like cardemom, refreshes the mouth and enhance digestion. It is necessary to massage whole body with gingerly oil everyday, which ensures softness and unctuousness of skin, free movement of joints and muscles, peripheral circulation and elimination of metabolic wasters. Regular exercises is essential for perfect health. It builds up stamina and resistance against diseases, clears the channels of body and increases the blood circulation and efficiency of body organs, promoter appetite and digestion and prevents obesity. Daily bathing improves enthusiasm, strength, sexual vigor, appetite, span of life and removes sweat and other impurities from the body. Food, sleep and abstinence are the three important factors to be considered in daily life to maintain good health .A healthy mind is as important as a healthy body. ayurveda prescribes certain rules for maintaining a healthy state of mind. this ethical regimen contains principles of right conduct.
Panchakarma is an unique  ayurvedic approach for the  treatment of both acute and chronic diseases. In addition to this, it is also utilized for the preservation of health and promotion of longevity. This procedure is advocated to eliminate the metabolic wasters and toxins from the body, thereby preventive occurrence and recurrence of disease. Snehan, Swedan, Vaman, Virechan, Basti, Nasya and Rakta mokshana are procedures practiced under Panchakarma therapy.
Rasayana stands as an answer to solve the problem of healthful longevity including mental development and resistance against disease.
This is the Importance of Ayurveda the science of ancient India based  on the Atharva Vedas dates back over  five thousand years. This is a science of life which explains the knowledge of various guidelines to be followed in order to make a healthy living.
